CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 2
Steve McDougall played brilliantly and shot the best
score of the day to stretch his lead over three other players in
the 2011 Championship to 6 shots. With one round to play at
Willunga, Steve is in a strong position and he will be hard to
beat if his form holds up. >> Leaderboard

defence is in tatters after recording a net 78. Round two
of the championship is at Gawler on 6th Nov. with tee off at

SPORTING CLUB 2 - THE VINES R22
The field found scoring very difficult at the beautiful
"The Vines" and the best of an ordinary bunch was
Frank Poser, with 33 pts to win the Sporting Club #2 trophy.
Warren McCard was second with 31 pts. Paul Brannan had a
another bland day, and was very lucky not to win the NAGA, if
not for Chris Kellet's shocker 20 pts.

PAIRS FINALS - BAROSSA R21
Dave Wilmshurst and Jamie Hill are pairs champions for
the second time after defeating Dave Bartholomew and Paul
Brannan in the final 2 up. Craig and Darren Bartholomew
took out 3rd place after defeating Warren McCard and Matt
Oschmanns 2 Up. The individual winner on the day was Dave
Bartholomew with 40 pts, from Dave Larcombe on 39.

DINNING TROPHY - VICTOR R20
Alan Hincks tamed the difficult Victor Harbor course to
shoot 38 pts and win the Dinning Trophy from Frank Poser who had
35 pts. Brett Greenshields had a very disappointing
afternoon and could only eek out 16 pts to come dead last and
win the NAGA. Many thought that Brent was tired from the
'Rap' and 'Hip Hop' dancing the night before!
|
PAIRS SEMI FINALS - THE PAT R19
Mark Bryson fired a magnificent net 47 pts at The Pat to
win from John Lomas 45 pts. The scoring was red hot with
the top 6 places all shooting over 40 pts. In the pairs,
Willy and Hilly defeated Darren and Craig Bartholomew 3 and 1,
in the other semi, Dave Bartholomew and Paul Brannan defeated
Oshy and Wally 8 and 7. >> Pairs

CORNS 4X4 TROPHY - McCRACKEN R18
Peter Pedersen fired a net 69 to take out the Corns 4X4
Trophy at McCracken from Wayne Best who had a net 70 and Alan
Hincks who also had a net 70. |
PAIRS QUARTER FINALS - TANUNDA R17
The pairs quarter finals were played at Tanunda and
amazingly three time pairs champions and number one ranked seeds
Hean and Pearce are out of the title race after a Gavin Hean no
show. Jamie made no secret of the fact that he was on the
market for a new partner. All other matches were won by
the higher seeded teams with the match of the day being Warren
McCard beating the old man Ray McCard in the Oschmanns/W.McCard
versus R.McCard/Lomas match 2 and 1, after a sensational birdie
by Warren on the 16th. Darren Bartholomew destroyed the Tanunda
course and competition ripping 42 pts in wet conditions to win
from Colin McPhedran 35 pts. >>

GETAWAY TROPHY - R16
The golfers ventured to the Riverland for the annual
Winter Getaway. Over two rounds, Dave Wilmshurst was too
good with stableford scores of 36 & 34 for a total of 70 to
win from Craig Bartholomew with a total of 67. |
GETAWAY TROPHY - R16
The golfers ventured to the Riverland for the annual
Winter Getaway. Over two rounds, Dave Wilmshurst was too
good with stableford scores of 36 & 34 for a total of 70 to
win from Craig Bartholomew with a total of 67. |
4th AVENUE DELI TROPHY - R15
Geoff Rigby proved far too good for the rest of field,
taking out the 4th Ave Deli Trophy at Murray Bridge with 43 pts
from Mark Thornhill with 38. It was great to see 'The Doc'
Greg Adam back out for the last two rounds, but unfortunately he
won the NAGA with 19pts. |
NO WET TROPHY - R14
Dave Wilmshurst has been the form player over the last
month or so and his good form has been rewarded by winning the
No Wet Trophy at Penfield with a wonderful net 62. Runner
up was Paul Brannan with 66. It was great to see Paul at the top
of the leader board and winning both nearest the pins, a real
highlight in an otherwise bland career. |
LINKS LADY BAY - R13 (PAIRS)
The round 1 of the pairs comp brought out the very best
in some, but not others. Colin Hincks won the day with 41
points from Dave Wilmshurst 40 pts, both excellent scores at the
difficult Links Lady Bay. In the pairs comp, the biggest
upset was the defeat of the number three seeds Best and Kellet
by the Bartholomew brothers. Warren McCard and Matt
Oschmanns loom as the dark horses after smashing Greenshields
and Ciechanowicz 5 & 4. >>

CLINTZ APPLIANCE TROPHY - R12
Funky Col McPhedran blitzed the Patawalonga course to rip
46 points and win the Clintz Appliance Trophy easily from second
placed Geoff Rigby on 43 pts. It was Col's second trophy
win in four rounds. Paul Brannan found his way to the
course OK this week, but it produced back to back NAGA's to send
Paul into the biggest form slump of his short and bland
career. There was plenty of talk about the return of the
Editor of Fairways News with many golfers very keen to unmask
his identity. No clues yet, by you can email the Ed at ed@inglefarm.org.au |
NORTHERN HYDRAULIC TROPHY - R11
The golfers made their way to the beautiful Flagstaff
Hill golf course to content the Northern Hydraulic Trophy. The
majority of the field made their way their along the conventional
route, but one Paul Brannan ended up in the Tea Tree Gully golf
club car park, wondering where everyone one was! Matt
Oschmanns won the trophy with a sizzling 42 points, which
included coming home in just two over par off the stick, for the
back nine. Wayne Best was second with 40 pts. The scoring
was very hot, with 39 pts only being good enough for 5th place! |
PAIRS QUALIFYING - R10
Three time pairs champions, Gavin Hean and Jamie Pearce
look like the team to beat again, having qualified in the #1
ranked position after pairs qualifying at Willunga. Dave
Wlimshurst had the best individual score of the day (44), and no
player shot worse than 28. >>
Pairs Round 2 Draw |
BRANNAN BRINGS IT HOME - R9
Paul Brannan shot 36 pts in trying conditions at Echunga
to take out the Memorial trophy and lead the Captain's Team to
another win over the gallant Chairman's Team. The
Captain's team had a scoring average of 30.5 to the Chairman's
team 29.3 |

FUNKY BLITZ AT CLARE - R8
Funky Col McPhedran tore the back nine apart at Clare to
shoot 42 points and take out the Clare trophy from Darren McCard
who had 40 points. Colin and Darren's (Team Mac) red hot form
must be a real concern for the rest of the field going into the
pairs championship. The Clare Bus Trip was a huge success
with the big shock of the day being the form of captain Craig
Bartholomew who took out the NAGA with a miserable 27 points.
Could it be that the added weight of the captaincy is having an
adverse impact on Craig's game? Only time will tell. |
PEARCE GETS JOB DONE - R7
Jamie Pearce won the Chairman's Trophy at Barossa Valley
with 38 pts from Frank Poser on a countback. Frank's
Jekyll and Hyde round saw him shoot a brilliant 24 pts on the
front nine but a very sluggish 14 pts on the back nine.
Too many late nights swooning around on the Clovercrest dance
floor probably contributed to Frank's fade out and cost him
victory. But the real story of the day was the amazing return to
form of Darren McCard. Out of nowhere, it was very nearly
two wins in row for Darren, if not for a putt that lipped out on
the 18th. So near, but so far, but who else really gives a
*hit. |
DAZZLER DAZZLES BLACKWOOD - R6
Darren McCard won his first individual trophy in 6 years,
with a dazzling display of shot making and finesse to shot 41
points and win the Captain's Trophy from Peter Robinson with 40
pts. With Colin McPhedran finishing in 5th place with 38
pts, it made the after round talk very much about if the team of
Darren and Colin are peaking too early for their pairs
challenge. Chris Kellett went back to back with another
NAGA. |
BAZZA WINS MAUGHAN THIEM - R5
Barry Droegemueller won the Maughan Thiem Ford Trophy at
Mount Pleasant with a dominant display, finishing with a score
of 5 up. Reports from Barry's group suggest that on at
least 5 occasions, he drove the ball into trees, only to see it
bounce out into the middle of the fairway. Runner up was Brett
Greenshields on 4 up. |
PLLU'S SPORTING CLUB TROPHY - R4
John Pllu returned to the winners circle with 44 points
at Murray Bridge, to win from runner up Dave Larcombe with 42
points. Jamie Hill had a complete shocker, and could only muster
a miserable 21 points. |
BEST WINS DRUMMOND TROPHY - R3
The 2010 club champion Wayne Best has picked up from
where he left off last year, taking out the Drummond Golf Trophy
at Mount Barker with a brilliant net 63. |
TEAM LOMAC GOLF TROPHY - R2
Dave Wilmshurst won the Team LoMac Golf trophy at Gawler
with 42 points, from the captain Craig Bartholomew with 38 pts. |
ECHUNGA BUSCUMB TROPHY - R1
Peter McAleer dominated the opening round of the 2011
season to win the Buscumb Trophy at Echunga with 44 pts from
Geoff Rigby 38 pts.3. |
